Who runs the site
London Bed Bug Editorial is the small team behind this site. We write and update every page ourselves. The site is independent, so no pest control firm edits our guidance.
We keep the site narrow on purpose. It covers bed bugs in London homes, hotels and rented flats, and nothing else. Because of that focus, we can explain a topic properly instead of skimming it.
What the site covers
The site has three kinds of page. Each one answers a different question a worried reader might ask.
- Nine guides cover the main decisions, from the first signs to monitoring after treatment.
- Thirty-three borough guides explain how to find council help in each part of London.
- A blog digs into narrower questions, such as travel, second-hand furniture and shared buildings.
If you are not sure where to begin, read the London bed bug treatment guide. It compares the main routes and lists questions to ask before you agree to anything. When treatment is booked, the preparing for treatment guide explains what to do in each room.
You can browse every borough from the London areas directory. Newer articles appear on the blog.
How we make the guidance
We start from primary sources. These include NHS advice on bites and washing, GOV.UK pages on renting and pest control, and Health and Safety Executive rules on pesticides. We also read council pest control pages directly, and we use peer-reviewed research when we explain how heat or steam works.
We open each source before we cite it. Therefore we never rely on search snippets or second-hand summaries. If we cannot check a claim, we leave it out and tell you to check the current page instead.
Council prices change often. For that reason we quote a council price only with the date we checked it, for example “listed at a stated price when checked in October 2026”. The full method is on our sources and editorial standard page.
What the site does not do
This site does not inspect homes, treat infestations or sell pest control. It also does not rank, rate or recommend contractors. As a result, no company can pay to appear higher on any page.
We do not run an enquiry form, and we do not take your details. Similarly, we cannot diagnose bites or give advice about your own home. A doctor or pharmacist can help with bites, and a qualified pest controller can inspect a property.
The commercial boundary
Some pages show a “Request help” link. That link opens BedbugExtermination.co.uk, which is a separate website with its own privacy information. Once you click it, you leave this site and its rules.
We keep the two apart. Our guidance stays the same whether or not you ever use that link, because the link earns no say over what we write. Meanwhile, you can also go straight to your council, and our borough guides show you how.
Corrections and updates
Mistakes happen, since some council pages move or change without notice. Each page shows the date its content last changed. We update the date only when the content changes.
If you spot an error, a broken link or a better source, tell us. The contact page explains what to include. We check every report against the source, and then we fix the page and update the date.
Sources and further checks
Open each source before you act, because council services, prices, tenancy rules and product labels can change. We list the pages this guide relied on when it was last checked.
